Why not be an ally of everyone? I'll do that too.

Bigger question: Why be an ally of some large group? Especially grouos so large you can’t really know a significant number of them?

I’m an ally of individuals in my life. Those individuals could be members of one, some, or no groups. But those memberships, or lack thereof are not the basis of my allegiance.

But maybe that’s just me.

Maybe it comes down to the meaning of “ally”. That term, I’m afraid may be becoming overused to the point that it has lost any real meaning.

I’ve seen far too often it simply mean “agree and support me without question”. I can’t get behind that. I’d like to think I’m generally nice to people as a default. But that doesn’t mean I fully back someone I don’t know about everything. That doesn’t make sense.

I’m open to a wider domain of “allyship” but it requires a strong definition of that term.

@midway Without question? Nah, but I support the group as a whole.
