#MassDeportations:
#LastWeekTonight with #JohnOliver (#HBO)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UEhMDAlX1Y
October 27th, 2024. Before the 2024 election, John Oliver discusses #DonaldTrump’s promises to carry out mass #deportations, what some of his #supporters might not realize about the details of those plans, and – shockingly – how #BillOReilly still has a show.
‘It’s #Ridiculous!’ #BillOReilly #Rips #ConvictedFelon #DonaldTrump’s ‘I Hate #TaylorSwift!’ #Post.
Says #Claims About #VicePresident #KamalaHarris Being a #Communist Are ‘Not True’
@threalist I’d call it a safe move, going with someone who already has a show that’s doing well. Of course anyone they pick will do nonthreatening pretend-opposition news.
Moving everyone else around is risky tho. These hosts work in part due to the timeslot they’re in. They learned that the hard way when they hired #TuckerCarlson to replace #BillOreilly, and then moved #TheFive from 5 PM to 9 PM. The ratings fell dramatically.
Also, something funny; when they fired #TuckerCarlson, #FoxNews accidentally raised the profile of their former hosts #GlennBeck, #MegynKelly, and #BillOreilly, because people wanted to hear what they had to say about the matter.
@freemo Fair enough; I don't know if before #BillOreilly, that 8 PM timeslot was held by someone who wasn't right wing.
@freemo Well, I'm curious to see where #FoxNews decides to go. #DanBongino left #FoxNews last week, now #TuckerCarlson... #FoxNews has an opportunity to shift their coverage back towards the center if they wish. I mean, when #BillOreilly was replaced by #TuckerCarlson, that was certainly a lurch to the right.
Who do you guys think could replace #TuckerCarlson?
My leading theories:
#BillOreilly - He's done it before; while he lacks some of the same energy he's had before, his ol' ticker is still working
#MattTaibbi - A lot of #TuckerCarlson's fanbase likes him now
#TulsiGabbard - Over the past year she's solidified herself as a solid fill-in host
#GuyBenson - People seem to like him, I guess
@Pattyagray Whether or not it recovers is probably dependent on #TuckerCarlson's replacement. #FoxNews has been better off with #TuckerCarlson than #BillOreilly, after all, maybe lightning can strike twice?
Fr tho I wonder how #TuckerCarlson leaving(?) #FoxNews will affect the network. While #GregGutfeld is a rising star, #TuckerCarlson has been their biggest draw since he replaced #BillOreilly
Not a good sign for the network if people only watch two of their anchors! Just like #BillOreilly and #MegynKelly, stars can be gone in a flash…they really need to find a way to be sustainable and get more hosts that are equally appealing
