Ah yes because this concern never occurs with #Mastodon lol
Just because they don’t think about it, doesn’t mean they’re not liable… a lot of things go unenforced, or selectively enforced. If you’re even moderately dissident I recommend avoiding things like that.
Does it require more powerful hardware than #Mastodon would?
No idea, I think poa.st is the largest Pleroma instance and graf had to invest quite a bit into hardware, so it’s very possible. Pleroma makes it possible to run on very modest hardware, but it may have different scaling properties as user counts inscrease.
@MandyJane Haha very cool! I wonder how I popped into your notis tho
Yeah my main account @realcaseyrollins@social.teci.world is on a #Soapbox instance so it doesn't proxy media, and spams my campus internet with requests to load images from instances they block...and they started to notice. So I'm using this #Mastodon instance until I'm off campus and then I'll be back on my main.
@MandyJane @realcaseyrollins@social.teci.world That's so cool! Forgot to follow you from this account, I suppose.
Not everything is great, but almost everything! I am truly blessed!
@polarisera @alex @realcaseyrollins@social.teci.world @MandyJane From what I've heard it's something configurable you can add to your instance. I'd have to ask @curtis to enable it but IDK if his server has the capacity to do that...it already went down once before because the hard drive ran outta space lol
@Leyonhjelm Thanks! I wish #ProtonVPN worked more reliably on PC and was compatible with #Hulu and #HBOMax and #DisneyPlus, or otherwise I would have switched to it full-time by now
@Leyonhjelm Yep. They used to block heavy.com and #UrbanDictionary lol
@Leyonhjelm Yeah same
@Leyonhjelm Holy frick that's insane. Thank goodness VPNs exist.
@Leyonhjelm HA! I bet that worked.
@Leyonhjelm Yeah nowadays evading that stuff is dirt simple
@realcaseyrollins lol
